Professional Summary

A plant geneticist and molecular biologist with international research experience spanning Bangladesh, Australia, and the United States. PhD from the University of Melbourne with postdoctoral training at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (U.S. Department of Energy), where his work on gene stacking in plants earned the R&D 100 Award in 2024. Previously led molecular biology research at Invaio Sciences Inc. (Boston). Currently serving as Assistant Professor in Genetics and Plant Breeding at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, with research focused on genome editing for enhanced nutrient uptake in crops — particularly phosphorus acquisition in rice genome.

Research Focus

My Research

My research sits at the intersection of plant biotechnology, molecular biology, and crop resilience. We use genome editing, single-cell genomics, and synthetic biology approaches to understand how plants respond to environmental stress and to develop practical solutions for food security and climate adaptation.

An Amplification-Free Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Method for Detecting Femtomolar Level of miRNA

Fatema Zerin Farhana, Md Akeruzzaman Shaon, Farjana Haque, Sharmin Aktar, Milkiyas T. Tantu, and Muhammad J. A. Shiddiky. Proceeding of the 29th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences. MicroTAS 2025, F060.W. .

MicroTAS 2025Vol. 45, pp. 134–135, B012.W.San Diego, CA, USA

This talk presents a label-free plasmonic nanosensor platform capable of detecting circulating tumor DNA at femtomolar concentrations directly from clinical samples, bypassing conventional amplification steps. The approach leverages localized surface plasmon resonance shifts induced by target hybridization on gold nanostructured substrates.
